Cell Master Automated Cell Control Software

One of the biggest hurdles to be overcome when trying to automate a low lot-sized application (such as a job shop, tool & die, or moldmaking environment) is the fact that no two jobs may be the same. NC programs are usually different for each job put in the machine, and you never know what may happen next to change your machining priorities.

If any of the following questions describe your machining environment, Hirschmann Automation can provide a solution to your needs:

  • Do you need to change job priorities on a regular basis, while your machines are running?
  • Would you like to be able to change and manage your NC programs without interrupting the machines in the cell?
  • Would you like to be able to change your job queue, with a few mouse clicks, without interrupting the cell?
  • Would you like to be able to put a job on hold, without interrupting the cell?
  • Would you like to view the status of your cell remotely? From anywhere over the internet?
  • Would you like to have the ability to group your parts together and quickly queue them up as one job?
  • Would you like to get detailed machining reports on your jobs from your cell/system?
  • Would you like to have your automated cell contact you when there is a problem?
  • Would you like to have your cell to be able to diagnose a problem and automatically recover from an error in the machine tool, remove the problem job, and continue running the rest of the jobs in the queue?
  • Would you like the cell to be able to redirect work in the queue from a down machine tool to another machine in the cell if it cannot recover from a machine error?

These are just some of the things that Hirschmann's Cell Master 6.0 can do!

Hirschmann Cell Master 6.0

Cell Master 6.0 is a real-time Cell Management System for preparing, organizing, and executing work in an automated CNC machine environment for toolmaking, moldmaking, and job shop machining.

The CMS Software is a Windows-based PC program that controls the robot and machine tools in an automated CNC machining cell.  With CMS in charge, the following tasks can be handled without stopping any of the machine tools in the cell:

  • Jobs can be reorganized by changing their machining order or they can be put on hold.
  • Pallets containing new work can be added to the cell.
  • Finished work can be removed from the cell so that the tooling can be reused for new work.
  • Real-time cell status data (and machining data) can be obtained.

Other features include:

  • Support for all types of machining including: Milling and HSM machining, Wire EDM, Die-sinking EDM, and other specialty machining applications.
  • Multiple cells can be controlled from one PC.
  • Cells can include any combination of machines and accessories.

The Presetter Module

The Presetter Module manages the tooling inventory in the shop and allows the operator to prepare the work, download the NC Programs from the company network and assemble the job to be submitted for machining. Each job includes a pallet and/or fixture, a workpiece, and the NC programs required to machine the part. An individual pallet can have one or more jobs attached to it allowing for automated machining of several operations on a single workpiece.

The Job List Manager

The Job List Manager is the scheduling center of the system. Work can be added, removed, or put on hold according to the day-to-day changes in machining priorities.

The system can also allow the scheduling of work in multiple machining cells from one central console.

Contact your Hirschmann representative for more details on the CMS System and our automation solutions. See if our team of professionals can help you solve your machining productivity issues.

“CNC automation is not something that is simply purchased,
but a process that you must apply to your entire shop!”
